The Story behind TLA Ramstein ♥
Fully Furnished TLA Housing Across the Kaiserslautern Military Community
Whether you are PCSing to Ramstein Air Base, stationed near Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, or looking for TDY housing somewhere in the KMC — you are in the right place.
My parents have been doing this since 2003 and over the years they built up connections that go well beyond our own front door. We are based in Hütschenhausen but the area we cover spans the wider Kaiserslautern Military Community – Ramstein-Miesenbach, Landstuhl, Kaiserslautern and the surrounding villages. And if we are fully booked, I personally reach out to a pool of local landlords to see if something else might be available for you.
So if you are looking for something in a specific area, just reach out. I will do my best to help.
With Love from Germany,
Melissa
From Old Farmhouse to Furnished Homes – How It All Started
I’m Melissa Burgard – mum of two and the person now running the family business my parents spent decades building with their own hands.
Back in the mid-nineties, my parents bought an old German farmhouse in Hütschenhausen – a grand stone mansion with a huge barn and a stable that had previously housed cows, pigs, and the kind of charm that only comes with age. What started as a family dream to bring everyone together under one roof slowly became something much bigger.
Apartment by apartment, wall by wall, they converted this old farm into warm, fully furnished homes for military families arriving in the KMC.
I grew up here, building this place alongside my parents. I know every corner and every apartment as if it were my own – because it is.
The Heart Behind It All
My mam (Janet Burgard) spent years volunteering with the USO and working closely with Wounded Warriors and their families – going above and beyond to make every stay feel less like temporary housing and more like a genuine home away from home.
She was recognised for this dedication multiple times, including by the U.S. Army and The White House.
Also my dad made sure nobody ever felt like a stranger. He hosted barbecues for fifty people like it was nothing, cooked for everyone himself, and kept the garden fireplace going well past midnight. I remember peering out of my bedroom window at 3 AM as a child and still seeing guests, their families, and friends scattered across the garden – just talking, laughing, and unwinding.
It wasn’t just a TLA. It was a community.
That spirit is still very much alive in everything we do today.

“My parents built a place where people felt they belonged – even when they were thousands of miles from home.”
My parents built TLA Ramstein from the ground up and gave it everything they had.
Now it is my turn – and the foundation they laid is something I am genuinely proud of every single day.
What drives me is the same thing that drove them. We know what it feels like to arrive in a new country with PCS orders, and the hope that wherever you land feels like a soft landing.
That is exactly what we are here for. A real home – warm, ready, and waiting for you the moment you walk through the door.
